Who We Are

Hall/Hill Performing Arts, Inc. is an outgrowth of the alumni and friends from the three Fort Lauderdale performing arts programs created by Joyce Hall and Allen Hill: Nova Performing Arts, Broward County Performing Arts, and The Theatre Program at the Atlantic Foundation for the Performing Arts. These alumni and friends are considered the founding members. Continued and new membership is simply a matter of support and participation.

Mission Statement

The goal of Hall/Hill Performing Arts, Inc. is to provide assistance and support to those in their pursuit of achievement in the performing arts. Just as our membership is widely varied, it is our wish to include the larger scope of performing arts-related fields in our efforts.

The Organization

Elected officers are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and West, Northeast and Southeast Regional Directors. Officers will be elected every two years by a majority vote of the active membership. Appointed positions are Web master, Art Coordinator. The Board of Directors consists of the positions listed above with lifetime Chairman of the Board Allen Hill. Board members, other than the Chairman, may resign or be removed by a majority vote. Alumni and Friends

Anyone who participated in any of the performances produced by Nova Performing Arts (called Contemporary Music in the early years), Broward County Performing Arts or The Atlantic Foundation for the Performing Arts, under the direction of Joyce Hall and/or Allen Hill, are considered Alumni. This includes performers, technicians, members of the orchestras or stage bands, and also guest artists. Friends are simply anyone who wishes to become a member and support the organization. Annual membership dues are currently set at $25.00 per year and shall entitle each member to notification of all alumni activities, memorandum and participation in the HHPA E-mail news group via the Internet. Membership in Hall/Hill Performing Arts, Inc. includes the following categories: alumni, friend or family of an alumnus, HHPA assistance winner, and former staff or associate of any original Hall/Hill performing arts program.

Fund Raising Activities

Raising money for the HHPA organization is of course necessary in order to fulfill our mission. Hall/Hill Performing Arts, Inc. will be applying for grants and awards from other philanthropic organizations or foundations. Individual members may organize and sponsor fund raising events for the benefit of HHPA by obtaining approval and sanction from the HHPA Officers and must satisfy all regulations and limitations set forth for not-for-profit, tax exempt organizations. Such events can be modeled after other organization events or may include any activity approved by the Officers and consistent with the HHPA goals and standards. Of course personal donations have been the principal means of support in the past, and may be made at any time. Click here for personal donation instructions.

Applying for Assistance

Any person or organization applying to Hall/Hill Performing Arts, Inc. for assistance must be represented by an Alumnus. This Alumni representative will be the focal point for communications between the applicant and the Board of Directors. (In the event that an applicant does not know, or has no contact with Alumni, an Alumni representative can be appointed by the application committee.) In addition to the Alumni representation, applicants must submit, in narrative form, a Grant Request Letter, including; a brief biography, a description of their project, why they believe Hall/Hill Performing Arts, Inc. should help, how they intend to use the assistance if granted and an itemized listing of all prior grants, awards, scholarships received in the previous five years. This initial application may be mailed to Hall/Hill Performing Arts, Inc., 12821 NW 21st Street, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33028, or may be made via the internet using the address applications@hhpa.org.

In addition to general assistance, there are four named awards that may be used when appropriate; these are the:

Grants will be awarded as funds are available and when deemed appropriate by the Board. Any Hall/Hill Performing Arts, Inc. active member not currently serving on the Board may participate in the grant selection by 1) requesting the grant applications for review and 2) petitioning the board in writing with comments and recommendations.
